Nidia Palacios
The Italian-Argentinean mezzo soprano Nidia Palacios was born in Buenos Aires. She attended the Academy of Teatro Colón and later studied at the Music Academy of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Her debut was in Argentina singing the traditional Mozart and Rossini repertory including, Così fan tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro, Il Barbiere di Siviglia to name a few at Teatro Roma, and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As young winner in the "Nuevas Voces Líricas" competition sponsored by the Richard-Wagner Foundation, she was invited to Europe where she had her debut in Prague in 1995. She has been singing since then in most of the important Theatres around the world, like Bayerische Staatsoper München, Staatsoper Berlin, Oper Frankfurt (Germany), Grand Thèatre des champs Èlysées (France), Mariinsky-Theater, Sankt Petersburg und Bolschoi Theater Minsk (Russia), Vläamische Oper (Belgium), New National Theatre Tokyo (Japan) Teatro Sao Carlos (Portugal) Teatro del’opera di Roma, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Bellini di Catania, Teatro Donizzetti di Bergamo (Italy), Teatro Argentino de la Plata and Teatro Colon (Argentina), Teatro Sodre and Teatro Solis (Uruguay) NCPA (China) among others, with the most important Conductors, like Daniel Baremboin, Julia Jones, Lothar Sagrosek, Bruno Campanella, Daniel Oren and Scene directors like Andreas Homoki, Cristof Nel, Hugo de Ana, la Fura dels Baus, Pier’Alli, Emilio Sagi, Calixto Bieito, and many others.
She has featured such roles as Isabella in L'ITALIANA IN ALGERI, Hänsel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Meg in FALSTAFF, Fenena in NABUCCO, L'enfant in L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES, Dorabella in COS FAN TUTTE, Suzuki in MADAME BUTTERFLY, Giovanna Seymour in ANNA BOLENA, Angelina in LA CENERENTOLA, Cherubino in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Adalgisa in NORMA in Wiesbaden, Stuttgart, Staatsoper Munich, Nürnberg, Mannheim, Dresden,Cologne and Munich.
In 1997 she won the "Concorso Internazionale Giuseppe di Stefano" in Trapani, Italy and was cast to sing Angelina in LA CENERENTOLA and Adalgisa in NORMA.
During 2001 and 2005 Nidia Palacios sang Fenena and Dorabella at the Semperoper Dresden, as well as performing Carmen in many german theaters. She also interpreted Poppea, Dorabella, Fenena, Meg Page, Orfeo, Carmen in Frankfurt, Dresden, Mannheim, Stuttgart. She furthermore interpreted the roles of Hänsel in Antwerpen and Ghent, Ariodante and Cenerentola in Frankfurt, Adalgisa in Norma with the touring company of the Teatro Bellini of Catania in Japan and St. Petersburg, as well as Adalgisa in Norma at the Tokyo New National Theatre.
2006/2010 she had her debut as "Neris" in MEDEA at Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon and she performed "Sara" in ROBERTO DEVEREUX in Ancona and Munich. She also sang Adalgisa in Norma at Palermo, in Modena, as well as in Livorno. She went on Japan-tour with the Teatro Bellini di Catania and at The New National Theatre Tokyo in a New Norma production. She also interpreted Sesto in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO at Oper Frankfurt and "Elvira" in DON GIOVANNI at the Teatro Bellini in Catania. The mezzo-soprano toured in Japan with the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo singing the role of "Seymour" in ANNA BOLENA; she was also invited to perform solo concerts in Tokyo featuring the operatic and tango repertoire. Afterwards she interpreted La CENERENTOLA (Angelina) at the Luglio Musicale Trapanese and made a concert Tour in the USA and South America, as well as NORMA at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
She performed "Maffio Orsini" in a new production of LUCREZIA BORGIA for the Festival Donizettiano in Bergamo, and also sang "Charlotte" in WERTHER at Teatro Bellini. She gave concerts in the USA (Phoenix), also in Italy (Rom and Bergamo).
She was "Dulcinee",(DON QUIXOTTE, Massenet) at the National Oper of Sofia (Bulgary), she sang again as protagonist "Ariodante" at " Händel Festspielen"(Germany), she also performed "Rosina" (Il BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Rossini ) on european Tour (Germany, Belgium and France).
In 2010/15 Nidia Palacios sang "Cesare", in GIULIO CESARE (Händel) at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata (Argentina) with big success. She interpreted "Orfeo" in ORFEO ED EURIDICE (Gluck), at the Teatro Bellini di Catania
She mastered the role of "Elisabetta" in Donizetti's MARIA STUARDA at the Teatro Comunale di Piacenza and at the Teatro Pavarotti di Modena. Afterwards sang "Agnese" in the Oper BEATRICE DI TENDA (Bellini) at the Teatro Bellini di Catania, she performed the "Marchesa Melibea" in the Oper Il VIAGGIO A REIMS (Rossini) at the Teatro Argentino de la Plata and sang "Orfeo" in ORFEO ED EURIDICE (Gluck) at the Teatro Solis de Montevideo, she was also "Prinz Orlofsky" in DIE FLEDERMAUS and "Smeton" in ANNA BOLENA at CATANIA als well as "Ariodante" at ALTO THEATER in Essen (Germany) and "Adalgisa" in Norma at China National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing).
The latest productions brought Nidia Palacios to the Teatro Verdi di Trieste Italy), als "Adalgisa", She will be performing "Azucena" in Il TROVATORE at Teatro Bellini di Catania (Italy), and "Romeo" of I CAPULETI E I MONTECCHI in Montevideo (Uruguay) and "Adalgisa" in NORMA, in Buenos Aires (Argentina), also "Fenena" in Nabucco and "Azucena" in Il Trovatore (Tour)in Canada and Germany. She will be Arsamene in Xerxes, in Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires,(Argentina, Magdalena in Rigoleto with a new Production of Opera Classica Europa.
She will also have an intense Concert and Master Classes schedule.
